Join us as we celebrate the country's birthday and the grand re-opening of Independence Park. A ribbon cutting ceremony will begin the evening’s entertainment followed by live music from The Slags and Jake Worthington on the H-E-B Entertainment Stage. At sundown, enjoy a spectacular fireworks display unleashed by VCA Westside Animal Hospital & Clinic. Food and glow trinkets will be available for purchase. Parking and seating are free of charge.
- For health and safety reasons, pets are not allowed at this event, with the exception of service animals.

Celebration of Freedom FAQs
When is Celebration of Freedom?
Celebration of Freedom will take place on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Gates open at 5:30pm and the event ends at 10:00pm.
Where is the event located?
Celebration of Freedom will held at Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway.
What time will the concert start?
Houston variety band, The Slags, will kick things off on the HEB Entertainment Stage at 6:30 p.m. and headliner, Jake Worthington, takes the stage at 8 p.m.
When do the fireworks start?
The fireworks show begins at 9pm and will be unleashed by VCA Westside Animal Hospital and Clinic.
Where do I park? How much does parking cost?
General Parking is free and located at Pearland High School, 3775 S. Main Street. Follow the pedestrian walkway signs towards Pearland Parkway to easily access the park.
From Pearland High School, proceed along pedestrian walkways (on either Oiler Driver or No Name Road from PHS Searcy Building) toward Pearland Parkway. Proceed north onto Pearland Parkway and enter through the main entrance at Independence Park.
Where is Handicapped Parking?
Accessible parking is located onsite at Independence Park, 3919 Liberty Drive. NOTE: Vehicles must enter the park from Liberty Dr. Access from John Lizer Rd. will not be possible due to the road's closure. Accessible parking will only be provided to vehicles with handicap placards and will be available on a first-come first-served basis.
From Friendswood: Take Broadway/FM 518 west to Liberty Drive. Turn left on Liberty Drive and proceed approximately 1 mile to the park entrance.
From SH 288: Take Broadway/FM 518 east approximately 9.5 miles to Liberty Drive. Turn right on Liberty Drive and proceed approximately 1 mile to the park entrance.
From Pearland Parkway: Take Broadway/FM 518 east 1 mile, towards Friendswood. Turn right on Liberty Drive.
Will there be shuttles?
No, shuttles will not be provided.
Is there a designated drop off location?
Yes, passengers can be dropped off at the entrance of Independence Park in the designated drop off lane at Pearland Parkway from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. The drop-off lane will only be accessible from the Pearland Parkway/Magnolia intersection. Parking or waiting in this area will not be allowed.
The designated pick up location (from 5:30pm to 10:30pm) is on the north side of Sheryl Searcy 9th Grade Center.
Where can I drop off after 8 p.m.?
Use Pearland High School, 3775 S. Main, for drop offs after 8:00pm.
Where can I pick up passengers during/after the event?
The designated pick up location is at Pearland High School, 3775 S. Main.
Where are the road closures?
Patrol officers will be in place to help direct and regulate flow of traffic, as well as man road closures.

What is the admission fee?
Admission and kids zone attractions are free. Certain activity vendors and food/beverage vendors do charge small fees for services and/or products.
What should I bring to the event?
You, your family and your friends! And don’t forget a chair or blanket, sunscreen, and bug spray! Large tents, pop-up canopies, and oversized umbrellas are prohibited. Although you don’t have to spend any money at this event to have fun, you may also want to bring money for food, drinks or for purchasing items from the novelty vendor that will be on-site.
Is there an ATM on site?
Can I bring a cooler with food and drinks?
Yes, outside food and beverages (including alcohol) are allowed. Glass containers are prohibited. Tailgating and barbecuing is not allowed inside the park or on Pearland ISD property. Don’t forget that we will also have numerous food trucks onsite selling a variety of tasty treats for your convenience!
Can I bring alcohol to the event?
Yes, however glass containers are prohibited.
Can I bring my pet?
For the health and safety of all our guests and for the consideration of all pets, we ask that you please do not bring your pets (of course, service dogs in harness are welcome).
Can I drive my golf cart, utility vehicle, or other motorized vehicle (hover board, electric scooter, etc.) to the event?
For the safety of event guests, personal motorized vehicles, such as golf carts and utility vehicles are not allowed inside the park.
Can I bring non-motorized vehicles (bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, wagons, manual scooters)?
Of course! Non-motorized vehicles are permitted, and wheelchairs and strollers are always welcome.
Can I bring my own fireworks?
The possession or use of fireworks within the city limits of the City of Pearland and the surrounding extraterritorial jurisdiction is prohibited by City Ordinance.
Q: What emergency services will be available on site?
A staffed medical tent and ambulance will be available on site, as well as Pearland EMS bike patrol and Pearland PD bike patrol.
What do I do if I get separated from my child?
For the safety of our event participants and in cooperation with Lifepointe Fellowship, we provide a Tag Your Tot sticker which can be picked up at one of the entrance gates. Fill out your contact information and put the sticker on your child’s back. In the event a separation should occur please report to lost & found, located on the right side of the stage (near the Whataburger Kids Zone).
What if it rains?
Weather related updates will be posted on the Pearland Parks & Recreation special event hotline at 281.412.8900, option 3, and on the Pearland Parks & Recreation Facebook page and Facebook Celebration of Freedom event page.
What should I bring in case it rains, but Celebration of Freedom is ongoing?
Please consider bringing the following items to stay warm and dry:
- Rain jacket with a hood
- Personal umbrellas
- Baseball cap
- Rain boots/other appropriate footwear
- Trash bags (for covering yourself in lieu of a poncho, backpacks and other items, to lay underneath blankets to prevent soaking)
- Tarp (for underneath blankets)
- Canopy chair or camp chair with umbrella
The following items are not allowed in the park:
- Large and/or stakeable umbrellas (such as Sportbrellas)
- Pop-up canopies and large tents
How do I volunteer to work at the event and what is involved?
